Workshop Dates Announced!

Reflections on training with the Royal Drawing School in Colour, Composition and Topographies.

A new drawing resource.

PLUS, dates announced for a two day landscape drawing workshop at DRAW Studio!

Training with the Royal Drawing School

Thanks to funding from Arts Council England’s Developing Your Creative Practice, I recently trained online with the Royal Drawing School in Colour, Composition and Topographies.

In Drawing Topographies: Internal & External, the drawings I’ve created express my experience of the world, observed and imagined.

A course in Colour & Composition changed the materials I use, a new colour palette emerged and I found new ways to structure and edit images

Explore Notans

Notans have made their way firmly into my drawing practice since learning about them with the Royal Drawing School!

Notans are studies of how light and dark elements of an image interact using only black and white. They help to quickly see how a composition is working; if the arrangement of shapes, light and dark are in balance.

Learn more about Notans in my upcoming 2 day landscape drawing workshop (details below).

Here’s a short film about how to draw a Notan:
